Host a Spanish Student in July!

Dear MPH families,

Last summer, MPH participated in a full immersion language exchange in Spain. We are thrilled to announce that this year, there will be a reciprocal program. Five Spanish students from our partner school Liceo Europa will travel to Syracuse for three weeks to participate in our summer program, and six MPH students will travel to Zaragoza and Comarruga to discover Spain this summer. We hope to grow this program over the coming years, and to offer this opportunity for our students every year.

If you are interested in hosting a Spanish student, and perhaps in building a relationship with a family in Zaragoza, please contact Colleen Xavier at (315) 446 2452, ext. 110. The students will be in Syracuse from June 28 through July 17, date at which they will leave for New York City for three days, and then return to Spain.

Hosting a student entails providing him/her a place to sleep, meals when they are not at school, as well as transportation to and from school during the week (9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.). On the weekend, they would love to discover CNY with you, or engage in whatever activities you normally plan for your family. They will no doubt be a great summer companion for your child, and perhaps, their first Spanish friend.

The students visiting are a boy and four girls between 16 and 17 years old: Jaime, Elena, Andrea, Pilar, and Marina. You can see Elena, Marina and Jaime introducing themselves in this video, and Pilar and Andrea in this one. For more information on each student, please email Colleen Xavier, who can share their information form with you.

Thank you for considering this chance to build a relationship across oceans, in the spirit of friendship and openness.
